New York Dolls were an American rock band formed in 1971 in New York City. The original lineup included vocalist David Johansen, guitarists Johnny Thunders and Sylvain Sylvain, bassist Arthur Kane, and drummer Billy Murcia. Known for their androgynous appearance and energetic performances, they influenced the emergence of punk rock. Their notable albums include "New York Dolls" (1973) and "Too Much Too Soon" (1974). After disbanding in 1976, members pursued various projects. The band reunited in 2004 and released three additional albums. David Johansen passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 75.
