Novalis was a German progressive rock band formed in 1971. Their sixth album, "Vielleicht bist du ein Clown?" released in 1978, was their best-selling, with 300,000 copies sold in Germany and good sales in Japan. The album includes tracks like "Der Geigenspieler" and "City-Nord". The band was known for their prog rock and krautrock style. In 1979, they released the concept album "Flossenengel" on the theme of whaling, supporting the World Wildlife Fund. Novalis disbanded in 1985.
