Omega was a Hungarian rock band formed in 1962 in Budapest. The original lineup included László Benkő (keyboards, vocals), János Kóbor (vocals), Győző Bánkúti (trombone), Tamás Künsztler (drums), Péter Láng (saxophone), Ferenc Tornóczky (guitar), and István Varsányi (bass guitar). The band underwent several personnel changes, with the classic lineup solidifying in 1971, comprising Kóbor, Benkő, György Molnár (guitar), Tamás Mihály (bass guitar), and Ferenc Debreczeni (drums). Omega released over 20 albums in Hungarian and English, with their most renowned song being "Gyöngyhajú lány". Their musical style encompassed progressive rock and space rock. The band received several awards for their contributions to Hungarian culture, including the Ferenc Liszt Prize in 1986 and the Kossuth Prize in 2013.
