Otherlands Trio is a New York-based jazz ensemble comprising bassist and composer Stephan Crump, alto saxophonist Darius Jones, and drummer Eric McPherson. Their debut album, "Star Mountain," was recorded in 2025 and released under Intakt Records. The trio's music is characterized by a dynamic and spontaneous approach to improvisation, focusing on collective expression and spiritual community. Crump and McPherson previously collaborated in the Borderlands Trio with pianist Kris Davis; their new venture with Jones explores new sonic landscapes, expanding their shared energy and skills.
