Pat DiNizio was an American musician, best known as the lead singer and songwriter for The Smithereens, a band he founded in 1980 in Carteret, New Jersey. The group achieved success in the 1980s and 1990s with hits like "Only a Memory" and "A Girl Like You". DiNizio also released solo albums, including "Songs and Sounds" (1997) and "Pat DiNizio/Buddy Holly" (2009). His music was influenced by the British Invasion and 1960s rock.
