Pat Thomas is a Ghanaian vocalist and songwriter renowned for his contributions to highlife music, particularly through his collaborations with Ebo Taylor and his own Afrobeat and Afro-pop recordings. Born in Agona in the Ashanti region, Thomas was immersed in music from an early age; his father was a music theory instructor, and his mother led a band. In the 1970s, he moved to Accra and joined Ebo Taylor's legendary highlife band, The Blue Monks. Later, he relocated to the Ivory Coast, producing various recordings that blended Afrobeat, Afro-Latin sounds, and reggae with funky African disco. In 1982, Thomas moved to London and recorded the album "Hitsville Revisited" with Taylor and his band, Uhuru Yenzu. In June 2015, he released "Pat Thomas & Kwashibu Area Band," recorded in Accra, featuring collaborations with drummer Tony Allen and other musicians.
