Peret, born Pedro Pubill Calaf, was a Spanish singer, guitarist, and composer, recognized as the father of Catalan rumba. He was born in Mataró, Spain, and gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s. His most notable hit is "Borriquito" from 1971. In 1974, he represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Canta y sé feliz". In 1992, he performed at the closing ceremony of the Barcelona Olympic Games. Throughout his career, he released several albums, including "Borriquito" (1971) and "Rey de la Rumba" (2000).
