Philip Sainton was a British composer and violist, best known for his score for the 1956 film Moby Dick. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, focusing on composition and viola performance. During his career, he served as principal violist for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and later taught at the Guildhall School of Music. Notable works include "The Island" (1939) and "Nadir" (1942).
