Philippe Graffin is a French violinist born in 1964 in Romilly-sur-Seine. He studied under Josef Gingold, Philippe Hirschhorn, and Viktor Liberman. Graffin is renowned for his interpretations of French repertoire and his interest in rare and contemporary works. He has recorded several albums for Hyperion Records, Avie Records, and Onyx. He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Martha Argerich. Graffin is the founder of the "Consonances" festival in Saint-Nazaire. Several composers, including Rodion Shchedrin and Philippe Hersant, have dedicated concertante works to him. He plays a 1730 Domenico Busano violin and serves as a professor at the Paris Conservatoire and guest professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
