Pietro Scarpini was an Italian pianist, composer, and music educator. He studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome under Alfredo Casella (piano) and Ottorino Respighi (composition). Throughout his career, he focused on interpreting 20th-century works, including Schoenberg's "Pierrot lunaire" and Busoni's Piano Concerto. He performed with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and collaborated with conductors like George Szell. In addition to his concert activities, he taught at conservatories in Parma and Florence. His recordings encompass works ranging from Baroque to contemporary music.
