Plamena Mangova is a Bulgarian pianist born in 1980 in Pleven. She studied at the State Music Academy in Sofia under Marina Kapatsinskaya, then continued her studies with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and with Abdel Rahman El Bacha at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. In 1998, she won third place at the Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition in Santander, and in 2007, she secured second place at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. Her debut album featuring works by Dmitri Shostakovich received the Diapason d'Or award. Among her other notable recordings is the 2021 album "Lettres Intimes," which includes works by Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.
