Possessed is an American death metal band formed in 1982 in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are considered pioneers of death metal, with their debut album "Seven Churches" (1985) often regarded as the first death metal album. The band also released "Beyond the Gates" (1986) and "Revelations of Oblivion" (2019). Their music is characterized by fast tempos and Jeff Becerra's growled vocals.
