Prefab Sprout is an English pop band from Witton Gilbert, County Durham, that rose to fame in the 1980s. Formed in 1978 by brothers Paddy and Martin McAloon, they were later joined by Wendy Smith. Their debut album, "Swoon," was released in 1984, followed by the critically acclaimed "Steve McQueen" in 1985. Notable songs include "The King of Rock 'n' Roll" and "When Love Breaks Down." The band is known for its sophisticated pop sound and intelligent lyrics. Since 2003, Paddy McAloon has continued to create music under the Prefab Sprout name as a solo project.
