Pretty Yende is a South African soprano born on March 6, 1985, in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga. She studied at the South African College of Music and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan. She made her debut in 2010 at the Latvian National Theatre as Micaëla in Carmen. Since then, she has performed at leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she debuted in 2013 as Adèle in Le comte Ory. Her notable recordings include the albums "A Journey" (2016) and "Dreams" (2017).
