Professor Longhair, born Henry Roeland Byrd in 1918 in Bogalusa, Louisiana, was an American singer and pianist renowned for his distinctive piano style that fused elements of rumba, mambo, and calypso. His notable songs include "Tipitina" and "Go to the Mardi Gras." In 1980, he released the album "Crawfish Fiesta," which won the W.C. Handy Blues Album of the Year award. He collaborated with artists like Dr. John and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
