Purple Mountains was an American indie rock project formed in 2019 by musician and poet David Berman. After disbanding his previous group, Silver Jews, in 2009, Berman returned to music with this project. In July 2019, he released a self-titled album, recorded in Chicago and produced by Woods members Jarvis Taveniere and Jeremy Earl. The album features singles such as "All My Happiness Is Gone" and "Darkness and Cold". Berman, the sole member of the project, passed away on August 7, 2019, less than four weeks after the album's release.
