Lard Free was a French avant-garde band formed in 1970 by drummer Gilbert Artman. The group blended elements of electronic music, space rock, and jazz. During their existence, they released three studio albums: "Gilbert Artman's Lard Free" (1973), "I'm Around About Midnight" (1975), and "III/Spirale Malax" (1977). Artman was the only constant member, collaborating with various musicians, including Richard Pinhas from Heldon. The band ceased activity in 1978.
