Gottlieb Wallisch is an Austrian pianist born in Vienna in 1978. Coming from a musical family, he was admitted at age six to the class for gifted children at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He studied under Heinz Medjimorec in Vienna, Pascal Devoyon in Berlin, and Jacques Rouvier in Paris. Wallisch made his debut under the baton of Yehudi Menuhin in 1996 and has since performed with conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli and Kirill Petrenko. He is known for his interpretation of both classical and contemporary repertoire, including works by George Antheil. Wallisch has recorded for labels such as Naxos and Linn and has taught at the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Geneva Conservatory.
