Reggie Workman is an American jazz double bassist known for his work with John Coltrane and Art Blakey. Born on June 26, 1937, in Philadelphia, he joined Coltrane's quartet in 1961, contributing to albums like "Live at the Village Vanguard" and "Olé Coltrane". He later played with Blakey's Jazz Messengers and collaborated with artists such as Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, and Pharoah Sanders. In 2020, he was honored as an NEA Jazz Master.
