Renaud Capuçon is a French violinist born in 1976 in Chambéry. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and later in Berlin under Thomas Brandis and Isaac Stern. In 1997, Claudio Abbado invited him as concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. Capuçon has performed with leading orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Wiener Philharmoniker, and collaborated with artists like Martha Argerich and Yo-Yo Ma. In 2020, he was named UNESCO Artist for Peace. He plays the 1737 Guarneri del Gesù 'Panette' violin, which previously belonged to Isaac Stern.
