Rez Abbasi is an American jazz guitarist and composer born in Karachi, Pakistan. At the age of four, he moved to Southern California and later studied at the University of Southern California and the Manhattan School of Music. In 1989, he graduated and subsequently spent several months in India studying tabla under the guidance of master Ustad Alla Rakha. This experience influenced his unique style, blending jazz with Indian classical music. Abbasi has released over 15 albums, including "Snake Charmer" (2005), "Bazaar" (2006), and "Django-shift" (2020).
