Richie Cole was an American jazz alto saxophonist, composer, and arranger, known for his dedication to bebop. Born on February 29, 1948, in Trenton, New Jersey, he began playing the saxophone at age 10. After studying at Berklee College of Music, he joined Buddy Rich's big band in 1969. He later collaborated with vocalist Eddie Jefferson and guitarist Vic Juris. Throughout his career, he released over 50 albums, including "Trenton Makes, the World Takes" and "New York Afternoon: Alto Madness". Cole passed away on May 2, 2020, at the age of 72.
