Rick Deitrick is an American guitarist who began playing at the age of 16. In 1978, he released his debut album, "Gentle Wilderness," as a private press with a run of 500 copies. Deitrick drew inspiration from nature, often composing beside rivers in the western United States. His music is characterized by original tuning and standard string settings. In 2017, the Tompkins Square label reissued "Gentle Wilderness" and released "River Sun River Moon," featuring previously unreleased recordings from the same period.
