Rosco Gordon was an American blues singer, pianist, and songwriter, best known for his hits "Booted" (1952), "No More Doggin'" (1952), and "Just a Little Bit" (1960). He was a pioneer of the Memphis blues style, and his distinctive "Rosco rhythm," emphasizing the off-beat, influenced the development of Jamaican ska and reggae. Gordon was a member of the Beale Streeters group alongside Johnny Ace, B.B. King, and Bobby Bland. Throughout his career, he recorded for labels such as Sun, Chess, RPM, Duke, and Vee-Jay Records. In 2000, he released the album "Memphis, Tennessee," and in 2002, he appeared in the documentary "The Road to Memphis." He passed away on July 11, 2002, at the age of 74.
