Rosinha de Valença, born Maria Rosa Canelas, was a Brazilian guitarist, composer, and arranger. She was born in 1941 in Valença, Rio de Janeiro. Beginning her musical career in the 1960s, she quickly became a leading figure in bossa nova and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). Notable albums include "Apresentando Rosinha de Valença" (1963) and "Um Violão Em Primeiro Plano" (1971). She collaborated with artists such as Baden Powell, Sérgio Mendes, and Sivuca. Her music is known for blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with modern elements. She passed away in 2004 in her hometown of Valença.
