Ruff Sound Quartet is a Dutch jazz ensemble formed in 2009 by drummer Pascal Vermeer. Their debut album, "Peace - Ode to the Music of Ornette Coleman," was released in 2012 under the Challenge Records label. The album features five compositions by Ornette Coleman, one by Charlie Haden, and three original pieces by the quartet members. The recordings were made live at Fattoria Musica studio in Osnabrück, Germany, without any overdubs. The group focuses on interpreting pieces from the 1960s, utilizing the improvisational possibilities offered by chordless music.
