Run-D.M.C. was an American hip-hop group formed in 1983 in New York City. The group consisted of Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. They are recognized as pioneers of hip-hop, contributing to its mainstream success. Their 1986 album "Raising Hell" features the hit "Walk This Way," a collaboration with rock band Aerosmith. This track was a significant moment in merging hip-hop and rock. Run-D.M.C. was the first hip-hop group to achieve a platinum album and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
