Ruth Slenczynska is an American pianist born on January 15, 1925, in Sacramento, California. As a child prodigy, she debuted in Berlin at age six and in Paris with an orchestra at age seven. She studied under prominent teachers, including Sergei Rachmaninoff, and is considered his last living pupil. After a hiatus during her teenage years, she resumed performing in 1951 and later served as an artist-in-residence at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In 2022, at age 97, she released the album "My Life in Music" under Decca Records, featuring works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and other composers.
