Ryuichi Sakamoto was a Japanese musician and composer who began his career in 1978 with the solo album "Thousand Knives". He was a member of the group Yellow Magic Orchestra, which had a significant influence on electronic music. Sakamoto won an Oscar for Best Original Score for the film "The Last Emperor" (1987). His other notable works include the albums "B-2 Unit" (1980), "Neo Geo" (1987), and "Beauty" (1989). He collaborated with artists such as Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Fennesz.
