Sanctuary is an American heavy metal band formed in 1985 in Seattle. The band has released four studio albums, including 'Refuge Denied' (1988) and 'Into the Mirror Black' (1990). After disbanding in 1992, members Warrel Dane and Jim Sheppard joined the band Nevermore. Sanctuary reunited in 2010 and released 'The Year the Sun Died' in 2014. Their music combines elements of thrash and power metal. Original vocalist Warrel Dane passed away in 2017, after which the band continued with new vocalist Joseph Michael.
