Satoshi Ashikawa was a Japanese musician, composer, and producer, recognized as a pioneer of ambient music in Japan. In 1982, he released the album "Still Way (Wave Notation 2)," considered a seminal work in the environmental music genre. This album was part of the Wave Notation series, which also included Hiroshi Yoshimura's "Music For Nine Post Cards." Ashikawa founded the record and book store Art Vivant in Tokyo, which became a hub for kankyō ongaku (environmental music).
