Sergey Levitin is an internationally acclaimed Russian violinist and concertmaster. Born in St. Petersburg, he began playing the violin at the age of six. In 1996, at 23, he was appointed concertmaster of the Mariinsky Theatre under Valery Gergiev. During his tenure, he toured globally and contributed to recordings for Philips Classics and Decca. In 2003, he joined the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden as concertmaster. Levitin is also active as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, and Martin Yates. He has recorded for Dutton Epoch, including world premieres of violin concertos with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
