Shirma Rouse is a Dutch singer born on March 13, 1980, on the island of Curaçao. She grew up on Sint Eustatius and moved to the Netherlands in 1999 to study chemistry at Leiden University, later switching to jazz music at the Rotterdam Conservatory. In 2010, she released her debut album "Chocolate Coated Dreams". This was followed in 2012 by "Shirma Rouse Sings Aretha", a tribute to Aretha Franklin. In 2013, she accompanied singer Anouk as a backing vocalist at the Eurovision Song Contest and participated in the fourth season of "The Voice of Holland". In 2018, she was invited to Aretha Franklin's funeral due to the popularity of her tribute album.
