Shura Cherkassky was an American piano virtuoso renowned for his interpretations of the Romantic repertoire. Born in Odessa in 1909, his family emigrated to the United States during the Russian Revolution. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music under Josef Hofmann. Over his seventy-year career, he performed on major concert stages worldwide and collaborated with esteemed orchestras and conductors.
