Sidney Bechet was an American jazz musician known as a master of the soprano saxophone. He began his career as a clarinetist and later focused on the soprano saxophone, contributing to its popularization in jazz. Bechet collaborated with notable musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. His well-known compositions include "Petite Fleur" and "Blue Horizon." In his later years, he moved to France, where he achieved significant success. In 1968, he was inducted into the DownBeat Hall of Fame, and in 1983, into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame.
