Silverchair was an Australian rock band formed in 1992 in Newcastle, New South Wales, with Daniel Johns on vocals and guitar, Ben Gillies on drums, and Chris Joannou on bass guitar. Their debut album, "Frogstomp" (1995), achieved international success, followed by "Freak Show" (1997), "Neon Ballroom" (1999), "Diorama" (2002), and "Young Modern" (2007), all debuting at number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. The band won 21 ARIA Awards, more than any other artist in history. Their musical style evolved from grunge to alternative rock with orchestral elements.
