Sir Simon Rattle is a British conductor renowned for his interpretations of works by Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schoenberg. He served as music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (1980–1998), principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic (2002–2018), and music director of the London Symphony Orchestra (2017–2023). Since September 2023, he has been the chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Rattle has received numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards for recordings of Mahler's Symphony No. 10, Brahms's German Requiem, and Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms.
