Soft Heap was a British jazz group formed in 1978. The original lineup consisted of Elton Dean (alto saxophone), Alan Gowen (keyboards), Hugh Hopper (bass guitar), and Pip Pyle (drums). Their debut album, "Soft Heap," was released in 1979 and is known for its avant-garde approach to jazz music. The group was renowned for their improvisational performances and contributed to the development of the British jazz scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
