Son Volt is an American rock band formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. They are known for their contributions to alternative country and folk rock. Their 1995 debut album, "Trace," features the song "Drown," which reached number 10 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Other notable albums include "Straightaways" (1997) and "Wide Swing Tremolo" (1998).
