Sonora Ponceña is an iconic salsa band from Puerto Rico, founded in 1954 by Enrique "Quique" Lucca Caraballo. The group is renowned for its unique sound that blends traditional salsa rhythms with jazz elements. Their most significant albums include "Hacheros Pa' Un Palo" (1968), "Fuego en el 23!" (1969), and "Sabor Sureño" (1974). In 1979, they collaborated with legendary vocalist Celia Cruz on the album "La Ceiba." Sonora Ponceña has achieved international acclaim, and their music has influenced many artists in the salsa genre.
