Soul Asylum is an American rock band formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Originally known as Loud Fast Rules, the band changed its name to Soul Asylum in 1983. Their breakthrough album, "Grave Dancers Union," released in 1992, featured the hit "Runaway Train," which won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band is known for its alternative rock style with influences from grunge and punk rock.
