Sound Barrier is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1980. The band was notable for the fact that all four original members were African American, which was uncommon in the genre. In 1983, they released their debut album "Total Control" under MCA Records, featuring tracks like "Rock Without the Roll" and "Mayday". In 1986, they released "Speed of Light" under Metal Blade Records, which included a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Hollywood (Down on Your Luck)". The band disbanded in 1987 but reunited in 2017 and continues to perform. The products available from the artist Sound Barrier include CDs.
