After graduating from Central State University in Ohio, he moved to New York City, where he became a significant figure on the jazz scene. Dillard has collaborated with artists such as Winard Harper, Cindy Blackman, Lenny White, and Roy Hargrove. He has released several albums, including "Elite State of Mind" (2006), "cPhyve" (2006), "One" (2009), and "Good and Bad Memories" (2010). His music is known for its bluesy, soulful, and swinging character.
