Star Feminine Band is a group of eight girls from Benin, born between 2003 and 2010. The band was formed in 2016 in the city of Natitingou under the guidance of musician André Balaguemon, who organized music workshops for local girls. Their music blends genres such as highlife, Congolese rumba, and traditional Sato rhythms. The lyrics address social issues, including women's rights, female genital mutilation, and forced marriages. In 2020, they released their debut album "Star Feminine Band" under the Born Bad Records label, followed by "In Paris" in 2022. The group has performed at major festivals like Glastonbury and Roskilde, and in 2023, they were named UNICEF Young Champions for their activism.
