Stepan Simonian is a Russian pianist born in Moscow in 1981. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Pavel Nersessian and Oleg Boshniakovich, and later continued his studies with Evgeni Koroliov in Hamburg. In 2010, he won the silver medal at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition. His notable recordings include "Bach: Toccatas," "Khachaturian: Piano Concerto and Concert Rhapsody," and "Bach: Goldberg Variations." Simonian is known for his interpretations of works by composers such as Bach, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart. Since 2009, he has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.
