Stéphane Grappelli was a French jazz violinist, renowned as a co-founder of the Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. This group was one of the first all-string jazz bands. Grappelli recorded hundreds of albums and collaborated with artists such as Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Yehudi Menuhin. His style blended swing, continental jazz, and gypsy jazz. He continued performing worldwide into his eighties and is regarded as a pioneer of jazz violin playing.
