Hailing from San Diego, California, he has released several solo albums, including "Sweet Is The Anchor" (2005), "I Will Miss The Trumpets And The Drums" (2009), and "At The Bottom Of A Canyon In The Branches Of A Tree" (2021). In addition to his solo work, Dawson is a member of the band Dolly Varden and the project Funeral Bonsai Wedding. In 2020, he received the Esteemed Artist Award from the City of Chicago.
