Studio Electrophonique is the solo project of Sheffield-based singer-songwriter James Leesley. The project's name is inspired by an old analogue recording studio in Sheffield. Leesley has released two EPs and a debut album titled "Studio Electrophonique" in September 2025. The album was produced by Simon Tong and recorded on a Tascam tape recorder, contributing to its intimate and slightly dreamy sound. Studio Electrophonique's music is characterized as indie pop with electronic elements. Leesley has supported artists like Richard Hawley and Étienne Daho, and his work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 3.
