Teaspoon & The Waves was a South African jazz-funk band that released their sole self-titled album in 1977. The album comprises five tracks: "Friday Night," "Wind And Fire," "Saturday Express," "Oh Yeh Soweto," and "Got Me Tight." Their most renowned track, "Oh Yeh Soweto," is an adaptation of Lamont Dozier's "Going Back to My Roots" and gained popularity in underground club scenes. Saxophonist Teaspoon Ndlela collaborated with artists such as Mpharanyana, Stimela, and Sipho Gumede, and featured on Paul Simon's "Gumboots" from the "Graceland" album.
