Tex Morton, born Robert William Lane in 1916 in Nelson, New Zealand, was a pioneer of Australian country music. In 1936, he recorded his first commercial recordings, becoming one of the first artists to record country music outside the USA. His albums, such as "The Essential Tex Morton" and "Singing Cowboy Sensation," feature songs like "Texas in the Spring" and "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Morton was known for his yodeling and influenced many later country artists in Australia and New Zealand.
